CBIT and Tourette

Updated: Apr 19

In this post, I would like to talk about the CBIT and its connection with Tourette, which is another system of treatment to help people with Tourette. CBIT (Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics) is a non-medical treatment that can be used to help people deal with the Tourette. This treatment’s objective is to help people with Tourette to identify the urge to do the tics beforehand and create a competing response instead of the tics. Also, another primary objective is to help find activities that will help get the tics out in a healthy way and minimize the overall tics. It's a new method of treatment that was published only in 2001. Like biofeedback, also this treatment is working on the brain and its purpose is to teach the brain how to control the tics. In both methods, the target organ is the brain, and it’s the primary focus of the treatment which is very logical. In Tourette, the brain secretes too much dopamine which causes the nervous system to malfunction, and it's only logical to train the mind to deal with the Tourette. I also think that finding activities that can give the Tourette a way out is very important, and I don't do it enough even though I know that it will be good for me. I think that I need to start doing it, but it's easy to write and say but hard to implement. I know that after I start, it will only be good for me, but I can't find the inspiration to start, and I need to force myself. I think that I will start with walks and continue from there and hopefully, I will start doing some other things. This is one of the alternative methods that looks good in my eyes, and as a person that has tried almost every pill and is still taking ones, I think it means something. I believe that some medicines are essential and are probably necessary, but I don't think that relying on them is a good thing. You always need to find some alternative, something that will help you cope with the Tourette. This treatment is one of the better ones in my opinion because it isn't relying on pills. I prefer to rely less on tablets and more on alternative treatments. I think that you need to combine alternative therapy with medicines to get the best effect. I think that the weight should be more on the alternative treatment than on the pills. I must admit that I didn't try it even though I have read about it and it sounds like something that can help me deal better with the Tourette. I should give it more consideration and give it a try, and maybe it will be good for me.
